Huh Ground turkey vs lean beef
There are so many different labels out there. It depends on what meat of the turkey is used, skin, etc. Same for beef for fat content. Turkey saves a few calories.

Turkey needs about 3 times the seasoning than beef to get some flavor to it (IMO) but in chili or taco salad that's not a biggie. Burgers... might mix the two but probably not. I've made turkey meat loaf. That's where I learned you need a lot more spices than you use with beef.

Bottom line, nutritionally speaking, the info online pretty much agrees on this:

Ground Beef (80% Lean / 20% fat)
Fat 15g, Calories 235, Saturated Fat 5.8g, Cholesterol 85 g

Ground Turkey (92% Lean / 8% fat)
Fat 11g, Calories 200, Saturated Fat 2.9g, Cholesterol 87 g

Of course you can buy leaner beef and ground turkey that is less lean and come up with closer numbers.

I never buy ground turkey that isnt 99% lean,,,,,,,pointless imo. I would go with a 90% beef instead,,,,,,,for tacos and or chilli I always use ground turkey breast and I think its the bomb,,,,,,if you are going to grill,,,,,skip the ground turkey or use a frying a pan, heat up oil first, add little egg, salt, pepper and whatever flaots your boat and the juice will stay in,,,,,,,

RE: Ground turkey vs lean beef
I LOVE ground turkey as a burger, but I usually have to eat a sample of cooked turkey burger before I prepare it and eventually dress it like a hamburger. I have a habit of being seriously disappointed for not wrapping my head around the difference in taste before hand

I dont eat red meat but I do cook it for family and friends.. so my choice of ground meat is turkey or chicken. It is more bland than beef but nothing a few choice spices cant remedy. You can throw in a few beef or chicken bouillion cubes for extra flavor.

I love making the chicken burgers.. grinding the meat myself. They freeze well and when you reheat them in the microwave it's like the came straight of the pit.
